Fact Check: Depression and Anxiety

Because mental health is something that should be taken seriously.

According to the World Health Organization, 300 million of the world’s population suffer from depression while 7.3 percent suffers from anxiety. In fact, the two mentioned mental health problem are on the list of the illnesses with most deaths from a year, making it a serious case to deal with.

Meanwhile in the Philippines, depression and anxiety are often experienced by adults and teenagers, however there is still no law in the country that would cater to the needs of Filipinos with mental health issues.

Project Greenlight: An Overview

Project Greenlight is an undergraduate study of senior Journalism students from Bulacan State University which aims to raise mental health awareness among College of Arts and Letters students through production of printed materials and online resources.

In order to break the stigma surrounding mental health, the project aims to provide facts and necessary information about mental health issues especially depression and anxiety, which are two of the leading mental illnesses experienced among the youth.

This study aims to inform the public that mental health issues are as important as physical ones. Aside from pieces of information, it would also share literary and art pieces which will tackle mental health awareness to cater to the need of the young generation on art and self-expression.

Lastly, this study intends to unleash from the chains of stigma surrounding mental health and it encourage you to do the same. Project Greenlight is waiting for its turn; it’s up to you to push that button of hope.
